Lucy Clark: My beautiful failure

Beautiful Failures, an Australian Learning Lecture Event, supported by The Guardian stimulated debate about what education should be if we are to seize the immense opportunities that lie ahead.

In November 2014, journalist Lucy Clark published an article that resonated with hundreds of thousands of people around the world.  The overwhelming response to her article led her to explore the pressure-cooker world of 21st century education, the way we measure success, and how it can be harmful to kids in her book, Beautiful failures (2016). She challenges accepted wisdoms about schooling, and asks some vital questions.

The panel at the event included:

  • Lucy Clark (author of Beautiful Failures and journalist The Guardian Australia)
  • Peter Hutton (Principal, Templestowe College)
  • Eric Sidoti (Director, Whitlam Institute).
